I absolutely love this effort, especially as I've already been taking the social media skills I've developed through progressive political activism and transitioning them to take that much more out of the sports I love.

I'm a die hard Milwaukee Bucks fan, and fans have used social media similarly to progressives already. We have organized a "bag night" protest of our team as we reached new lows (covered by mainstream media outlets and directly cited by our local paper in the rationale of our owner canning our GM), we have been coordinating a special section call "Squad 6" that operates similarly to a student section during Bucks games (i.e. coordinated cheers heard throughout the stadium), and then our season was catalyzed with the #FearTheDeer Twitter explosion that made the Bucks a mainstay on ESPN during our run last season.

In fact, going further back even, I'd say that my recognition of the power of the progressive blogosphere stemmed in large part from how much I was able to get out of sports blogs and message boards....

Anyways, it's funny to discover this site just now from OpenLeft.com, as I have recently made a Twitter account called @DeerFear as I more directly get involved in Milwaukee Bucks activism. Our team will be at risk of relocation if we can't build up community support for a new stadium, and our owner, Sen. Herb Kohl, is already up there in age.

Taking what I've learned at Open Left, and bringing such dirty hippie sensibilities to sports----gotta love it, and really great job putting this together everyone!
