Yeah, great post. And it's true that what he did was immature. This chucklehead refers to himself as "King James" on twitter (if my morning radio DJs are to be believed). But why isn't it seen as just as immature when a team announces to the press that they don't intend to re-sign one of their longtime stalwarts (such as the Dallas Stars just did with Mike Modano)?

Sure, they don't try to spin it into a prime time event, but then, couldn't it be argued that Lebron was just trying to raise his celebrity/Nike value by doing so? And if so, it's just business, right?

But really, this is where the fun begins. Lebron colluded with these two other players to go for it all down in Miami (as is their right in free agency). The gauntlet has been thrown down. They've made their statement. It's not often that a team gets the "defending champ" treatment without winning anything, but in 2010-2011, the road to the championship passes through South Florida and everyone in the league will get to take their shot.

I have to say it again - this is a ridiculously good post. It captures what so many are thinking and saying - and in a much better tone than what I would have used!

Agreed. One of the best don't-let-the-door-hit-you-in-the-ass moments you'll ever see from an objective journalism outlet.

That is one of the best newspaper front-pages I've ever seen. The arrow and "7 years in Cleveland. No rings" is brilliant and brutal.
